Okay so I’ve changed my tactic again a little. Been trying to find a project that I actually want to work on.
So it’s Illinois WWI Draft Registrations right now. Mostly cause it’s got the most images / batches and is the least done.
Here’s some hints for the US WWI Draft Registration Projects..
- Cards are usually alphabetical by surname
- Just cause a field goes red doesn’t mean it’s wrong
- You’ll have to lookup place names a lot
- There’s a lot of foreign place names (refer to previous point)
- For the Card Type 3 (the one with no actual birth location spot on the image) do not index the city / county fields.
- If card states “Natural Born” “Natural Born Citizen” or the Natural Born box is checked then their Country of birth is United States.
- Do Not abbreviate USA. It should be written out as United States.
